Reduce MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, and OGG file sizes directly in your browser. Your audio never leaves your device.
Audio compression reduces the file size of audio recordings by lowering the bitrate — the number of kilobits of audio data stored per second. A lower bitrate means smaller files that are faster to upload, stream, and share, but at a higher level of compression you may start to notice a reduction in audio quality, particularly in the high-frequency range. Finding the right balance depends on your use case.
EazyStudio's audio compressor uses the Web Audio API to decode your audio file in the browser and re-encode it at your chosen bitrate and format — completely locally, with no server upload. This means your private recordings, podcasts, and music files never leave your device.
The bitrate you choose should match your intended use: for voice recordings, podcasts, and spoken-word audio, 64–96 kbps produces very good quality at a small file size. For music streaming and general audio, 128 kbps is widely considered the minimum for acceptable quality. For high-fidelity music that will be listened to on good speakers or headphones, 192–320 kbps is recommended. Anything above 320 kbps is unnecessary for MP3 as the human ear cannot distinguish the difference.
This tool can compress and convert between the most popular audio formats: MP3 (the universal standard, compatible with every device), AAC (Apple's format used in iTunes and iOS, better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate), OGG Vorbis (open-source format used in web apps and games), and WAV/FLAC (lossless formats ideal as a source for compression). You can also use this tool to convert between formats without changing quality.
